Community Coaches Program

Shell Oil Company is looking for nonprofit projects that can make good use of the skills our high performing employees have to offer – from financial services to marketing and more.

A Community Coach pro bono project will take the business and executive talent of a Shell New Orleans organization and match them with a need that can move your organization forward, while building a deep relationship with an employee at one of Louisiana’s top businesses.  Our employees give thousands of hours each year to volunteering on behalf of the company. Through the Community Coaches model, we’re helping them get involved in places where they can do the most good.

Organizations will be chosen and matched according to the talent expertise of Shell employees who are interested in making a difference for your cause. Our partners at the Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations (LANO) will facilitate the framework for the project and oversee its implementation.

Louisiana is our home… and over the years, we’ve invested our time, talent and dollars to build capacity within the nonprofit sector – organizations working in community resilience, STEM education, conservation and workforce development. Our employees have given tens of thousands of hours as board members, hands-on volunteers and professional resources for nonprofits. Through Community Coaches, we want to take that commitment one step further.

LANO will facilitate the framework for the project and oversee its implementation.  Take this opportunity to think creatively and thoughtfully about a project need that if solved, could build the capacity of your organization for greater good.

What will your organization receive as a Community Coaches Partner?

If selected, we will match you with a high performing Shell employee to provide pro bono services to your organization through October 2018.

  • Your coach/partner will give you 30 – 40 hours (over a 6 month period) of pro bono services within a specific scope of work defined by you and your coach/partner.
  • You will receive free Gallup Strengths finder assessment, along with a team building session for your organization’s members of the pro bono project team which can include members of your staff or board.

  • Is your project urgent?  If so, pro bono services might not be the best solution.
  • Keep project short to medium term.  You should be able to wrap the project up in 6 to 7 months.
  • Assemble the appropriate background and organization information to bring your coach quickly up to speed.
  • Determine team members from your organization who should participate to ensure project success.  Make sure team members will have the time to fully participate in the project.
